The project is conceived as the result of two distinct art interventions, eachbelonging to different timescales and scales.
First, there is a geometric territorial intervention derived from an analysis of the surrounding area’s layout. This geometric trace forms a triangle with three sides of varying lengths, enclosing a defined space. The precise, controlled layout gives rise to a piece akin to ars topiaria, where total geometric control serves as the foundation for every design decision. Within this perimeter, 51 Populus Alba treesare planted in a 2.0 meter grid, accompanied by cross-lighting inside the formation.
In parallel, a performative artwork is proposed, transforming the previously flat geometric intervention into a volumetric one. The project explores controlled, collective pruning techniques, serving as the basis for a pruning manual. Additionally, an annual visit by the artist ensures uniform and intentional growth of the Populus Alba trees.
Together, the project functions as a steadily evolving, uniform extrusion of a pure geometric trace one that embeds itself into the memory of highway users, continually reshaping the landscape.
